Coreda B. Wallace, 90, Vero Beach

Coreda B. Wallace, 90, died May 23, 2010, at Indian River Medical Center.

She was born in Indianapolis and lived in Vero Beach since 2003, coming from Dunnellon.

She was a member of National Association of Parliamentarian organizations in Missouri and Florida and was a Professional Registered Parliamentarian.

She was active in her church, Boy Scout Mother’s Club, auxiliary to Western Chapter of Missouri Society of Professional Engineers, auxiliary to Kansas City Chapter of Mechanical Engineers and Johnson County Young Matrons.

Survivors include her sons, James C. Wallace of Duluth, Ga., Larry A. Wallace of Olathe, Kan.; and three grandsons.

Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. May 27 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

Fellsmere among towns impacted by Hurricane Irma to get infrastructure award

Fellsmere is among several Florida towns that will receive an infrastructure award that will go toward restoration and improvement projects following the damage left behind by the 2017 Hurricane Irma, state officials said Friday. Gov. issues state of emergency; beaches to close ahead of Isaias

Friday evening update: A hurricane warning and a storm surge watch were issued for Indian River County Friday afternoon. County officials will order voluntary evacuations for residents Saturday in mobile homes, low lying areas and on the barrier island. County officials will open three shelters at 2 p.m. Saturday.
