Recreational anglers who fish on Atlantic reefs must register with the state

The state of Florida announced this week a $3-million, mandatory reef fishing registration program. Beginning July 1, all recreational anglers who fish for 13 species of reef fish in Florida's Atlantic waters must register each year with the state – a measure aimed at learning how many fish are being harvested to help manage stocks better. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, meeting virtually on Thursday, voted unanimously to expand the Gulf Reef Fish Survey – launched in 2015 – to the entire state. Becker Award of Excellence bestowed on Daniel Koh

VERO BEACH -- The Becker Award of Excellence, created by Lisa and Bill Becker of Vero Beach, has been awarded to two faculty members at Saint Edward's School. The Award's purpose is to recognize outstanding faculty members at Saint Edward's School who have at least three years teaching experience at Saint Edward's and a minimum of five years teaching experience overall. This year's awardees: Daniel Koh from the Upper and Middle School divisions, and Margaret Young from the Lower School division, were announced at the School's closing ceremonies in June.
