Bernard F. ‘Barnie’ Marshall, 82, Vero Beach

Bernard F. “Barnie” Marshall, 82, died May 15, 2010, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.

He was born in Quincy, Mass., and lived in Vero Beach since 1999, coming from Alvin, Texas. Before retirement, he was employed with Amoco Chemical Corp. in Alvin.

He was a Navy veteran, serving during World War II, and Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Korean War.

He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and the Polish-American Club, all of Sebastian.

Survivors include his daughters, Joanne O’Flynn of Sandy Springs, Md., and Diane Sam of Charlotte, N.C.; son, Jimmy Marshall of Annapolis, Md.; brothers, John “Jack” Marshall of Hanover, Mass., Robert Marshall of Weymouth, Mass., and Fred Marshall of Brockton, Mass.; sister, Evelyn Meaney of Orlando; his companion, Annette Fontaine of Vero Beach; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Milfred Mercier.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. May 22 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church. Burial will be at a later date in South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth.
