Rose Marie Dees, 90, Vero Beach

Rose Marie Dees, 90, passed away May 12, 2010, in Vero Beach. She was born in Cleveland and moved to Florida, first living in Daytona Beach and then moving to Vero Beach. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Douglas Dees, and her brother, Leo Sudman. She is survived by her children, Robert Dees (Diane) of Vero Beach; Bonnie James (Steve) of Holly Hill; and David Dees (Betty) of Tallahassee; her grandchildren, Dawn Thompson, Robert Dees, Jennifer Dees, Jessica Carlson, Cristen McMillan, Sarah Rogers, and Marshall Dees; her nine great grandchildren; and her sisters, Frances Springborn, Bella Currey and Lena Resler. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches, P.O. Box 2000, Boys Ranch, FL 32064. Arrangements are under the care and trust of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, Ormond Beach.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. Fellsmere among towns impacted by Hurricane Irma to get infrastructure award

Fellsmere is among several Florida towns that will receive an infrastructure award that will go toward restoration and improvement projects following the damage left behind by the 2017 Hurricane Irma, state officials said Friday. Gov. issues state of emergency; beaches to close ahead of Isaias

Friday evening update: A hurricane warning and a storm surge watch were issued for Indian River County Friday afternoon. County officials will order voluntary evacuations for residents Saturday in mobile homes, low lying areas and on the barrier island. County officials will open three shelters at 2 p.m. Saturday.
