INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – McKee Botanical Gardens is under a boil water notice after repairs to area water lines forced an outage. How long water was expected to be out was not immediately known.
Once water service is restored, however, water must be boiled before being used, according to the Indian River County Utilities Department.
Water should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute before being used in the following ways:
Drinking
Cooking
Making ice
Brushing teeth
Hand washing dishes
Bottled water may be used as an alternative.
This boil water notice will remain in effect until a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink. The department is unable to provide an exact time of survey completion, though it should be no more than 72 hours.
A rescission notice will be distributed.
