David W. Davis, Sr., 88, Vero Beach

David W. Davis, Sr., 88, passed away April 6, 2010 at his home. Mr. Davis was born April 17, 1921 in Toombs County, Ga., and called Vero Beach home since 1962.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. A torpedo man first class he served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters during World War II.

Mr. Davis was a member of The Living Lord Lutheran Church in Vero Beach as well as a member of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Research Center. He was a loving father and grandfather and will truly be missed by all who had the privileged of knowing him.

He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years Lucille T. Davis and great-grandson Tristan Powell.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law David W. Jr., and Gina Davis, daughter and son-in-law Jo and Kenneth Powell, and daughter Suzie Davis (Rick) all of Vero Beach, sister-in-law Myrtice Beffrey of Jacksonville. Five grandchildren: Seth W. (Brena) Powell, David W. III (Ava) Davis, Adam L. Powell (Jami), Rebekah A. (Marc) Jaffe, all of Vero Beach and Jacob E. Davis of Tallahassee. Six great-grandchildren R. Micheal, Jordan M. and Abagail D. Davis; Treven I., and Trinity B. Powell, and unborn River L. Jaffe, all of Vero Beach.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 17 at The Living Lord Lutheran Church, 2725 58th Avenue, Vero Beach, 32966.
