Two teens charged after carjacking ends with crash in Indian River County

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Two teens who police said carjacked a man at his Fort Pierce residence, drove north and crashed while fleeing from deputies, were arrested late Thursday. The juveniles, ages 13 and 15, were traveling more than 90 mph along westbound 17th Street to U.S. 1, law enforcement officials said. "The vehicle was taken to our evidence compound and will be turned over to the Fort Pierce Police Department for further processing," Indian River County sheriff's spokesperson Sgt. Police: Suspect steals car with baby inside; boy found unharmed

VERO BEACH — Police and sheriff's deputies are searching for a suspect who they said stole a car with a 10-month-old baby inside on Friday and later abandoned the vehicle near Shadowbrook of Vero Apartment complex. Officers found the boy unharmed and still in the car seat, Vero Beach police spokesperson Kelsea Marty said. The boy was reunited with his father, Marty said. K-9 units from the Indian River County Sheriff's Office, Vero Beach Police Department and Sebastian Police Department are searching for the suspect. "This is a multi-agency effort," Marty said. Deputies: Man charged with running over woman after domestic dispute

A Sebastian man was jailed Thursday in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that occurred after a domestic dispute with a woman he was in a relationship with, deputies said. The identity of the woman who was fatally struck was not publicly released. The woman's body was found on the side of southbound U.S. 1, prompting a criminal and traffic homicide investigation, Indian River County sheriff's officials said. "We think her body was there for a couple of hours," Sheriff's spokesperson Lt. Joe Abollo said.
