VERO BEACH — Emergency responders shut down 43rd Avenue between State Road 60 and 16th Street due to a natural gas leak shortly before 4:30 p.m. Monday.
The gas company is expected to arrive on scene within the hour. Barricades have been put across the road to block traffic.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area. Those trying to get to 16th Street from SR 60 can use 40th, 36th, or 35th avenues. From there, they can head west on 16th Street and turn south of 43rd Avenue, according to eyewitness reports.
