James Edward “Butch” Miller Jr., 61, died March 2, 2010, at the VA Hospital, West Palm Beach.
He was born in Williamson, W.Va., and lived in Vero Beach for six years, coming from Fort Lauderdale. He was an engineer for the Florida East Coast Railroad for 34 years before retiring in 2008.
He served in the Army during the Vietnam War as an airborne medic with the 101st Airborne. He was a member of the American Legion National Post.
Survivors include his son, Mark Andrew Warner of Lakeland; daughters, Michele J. Warner and Madonna Miller, both of Lakeland and Virginia Wagner of St. Paul, Minn.; mother, Esther Miller of Sebastian; brother, Ted Miller of Sebastian; sister, Etta Wielandt of Dania; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Miller in 2008, and his daughter, Honey Miller.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. March 14 at Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, followed by military honors conducted by the Sebastian Area Veterans Honor Guard.
A graveside service with military honors will be at 11:30 a.m. March 15 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
