St. Patrick’s Day Dinner Celebration

VERO BEACH — The Knights of Columbus of Holy Cross, St. John of the Cross and St. Helen’s parishes join together to present the second annual St. Patrick Dinner Celebration on Sunday March 14, 1:30 p.m. at the St. Helen’s Catholic Church Parish Center.

A traditional Corned Beef & Cabbage dinner with dessert and coffee will be served, and entertainment will be provided by the Rondeau Irish Step Dancers and the Kevin Brown Irish Bagpipers.

There will be door prizes, a silent auction and the Lucky Leprechaun drawing with a Grand Prize of $1000. Lucky Leprechaun tickets are sold separately.

All proceeds from this event will benefit the St. Helen Catholic School Tuition Assistance Fund.

Dinner tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children 6-12 and free for children under 6.

Presale dinner and Lucky Leprechaun tickets are encouraged and are available at the St. Helen’s Office at 2025 20th Avenue in Vero Beach or from any Knights of Columbus member.  Tickets will also be available at the door.

Low beach attendance for January; no water rescues

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. Fertilizer restrictions to go into effect next month

A reminder from the Indian River Neighborhood Association to residents of Indian River County, City of Vero Beach, Sebastian and Orchid. We are coming into our rainy season when more nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous are likely to be washed from our lawns, driveways and roads into the storm water system and, ultimately, into our local waterways such as the Indian River Lagoon. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
