James Edward McQuillen, 78, died Feb. 20, 2010 at his home in Vero Beach, surrounded by his family.
He was a lifetime resident of Corning, N.Y., and had been a winter resident of Vero Beach since 1994.
Eddie was a graduate of Northside High School in Corning, class of 1951 and was employed at Dresser Rand Inc., formerly known as Ingersol Rand Inc. in Painted Post, N.Y. for 41 years before his retirement in 1992.
He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and spent 6 years in the Naval Reserve.
Eddie was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Inlet, N.Y., and attended St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
He was a Lifetime Member of Caton Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief and EMT. Eddie was a member of the Sebastian Moose Lodge #1822.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Joyce McQuillen of Vero Beach and Eagle Bay, N.Y.; son, James C. (Kathy) McQuillen of Waverly, N.Y.; daughter, Carol (Roy) Stone of Corning; brother, John D. (Bonnie) McQuillen of Vero Beach; sisters, Joan Taylor of Binghamton, N.Y. and Helen McQuillen of California; grandchildren, Michael B. Stone and Elizabeth A. Stone, both of Corning, Victoria L. McQuillen, Cory Yost, Brian Yost, Alicia Yost and Phillip Yost, all of Waverly, N.Y.; brothers-in-law, Wayne Riesbeck of Corning and Mark Riesbeck of Dallas; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Robert) Thomas and Marilyn Nehring (Ted Heagle) both of Corning.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Helen McQuillen.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Feb. 24, 2010 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach. A Prayer Service will be held at 4 p.m.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church in Corning.
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Caton.
