Dr. Patrick Ottuso Joins American Cancer Society Yellow Rose Society

VERO BEACH — The Indian River Unit of the American Cancer Society is delighted to announce that Patrick Ottuso, MD, FAAD has joined as the first member of the “Yellow Rose Society” for the Citrus Gala and Cattle Barons’ Ball. The Citrus Gala will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a special Stetsons and Stilettos themed fundraiser on March 6, 2010 at the hangar of Paris Air Inc.

The Yellow Rose Society is a new distinction for supporters of the gala and is a special way for the American Cancer Society to recognize the medical and dental professionals who serve our community.

Other physicians who will be recognized at the Stetsons & Stilettos themed Citrus Gala & Cattle Barons’ Ball are Drs. Michaela Scott, Frederick Weeks, William McGarry, and Ralph Rosato.

Retired sheriff’s sergeant loses battle with cancer

A retired longtime sheriff's sergeant died of cancer over the weekend, officials said. James 'Jimmy' Stewart passed away overnight on Saturday in Tennessee, where he moved after retiring from the Indian River County Sheriff's Office, spokesman Maj. Eric Flowers said. His age was not immediately available. It was unclear if any local memorials would be held for the retired law enforcement official.
