Aerline Rodgers Shippey, 89, died Jan. 18, 2010, at Royal Palm Convalescent Center in Vero Beach.
She was born in Byromville, Ga., and lived in Vero Beach for 55 years, coming from Montezuma, Ga.
Before retirement she was an elementary school teacher and began teaching in Dooley County, Ga. She then transferred to Macon County to teach in the Montezuma district.
In 1955, she transferred to the Fort Pierce School District. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Vero Beach and a member of Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her daughter, Martha Kulp of Vero Beach; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Pickett Shippey.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 21 at Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach. A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 22 at First Baptist Church of Vero Beach.
