Cynthia Page Taylor, 45, Vero Beach

Cynthia Page Taylor, 45, died Jan. 3, 2010, at the VNA Hospice House.

She was born in Rockford, Ill., and lived in Vero Beach for one year, coming from Fort Pierce. She was a homemaker and a member of Reach Community Church in Fort Pierce.

Survivors include her husband of 21 years, Norman Taylor of Vero Beach; sons, Dewayne Knott of Key West, Travis Taylor of Vero Beach and Frederick Taylor of Jacksonville, N.C.; daughters, Judy Taylor of Fort Pierce and Stacy Taylor of Vero Beach; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be may to VNA/Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960. No services are planned.

Low beach attendance for January; no water rescues

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. "It's a great thing," Vero Beach Lifeguard Association officials said in a statement. "We hope people are paying attention to lifeguards and condition signs before they go into the water." ‘Tragic, sudden loss,’ – Memorials emerge for teen killed in ATV crash

With the sudden death of Sebastian River High School student Jake Beecher still fresh, family, friends, teammates and coaches continue to come to terms with the tragic crash that took his life. "He was well-liked by teammates and was extremely coachable. His coaches and teammates are taking it pretty hard," Sebastian River High School Athletic Director Jessica Upchurch said. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
