VERO BEACH — Childcare Resources of Indian River, a United Way agency, will host its fourth FDIC Money Smart Financial Education Program session, Keeping Track of Money, on Thursday, January 7. All sessions are free and will be held at 6:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month until May 2010 at Childcare Resources, 1801 24th Street in Vero Beach.
The fourth session in the financial education series, entitled “Money Matters: How to keep track of your money,” will be facilitated by Carol Alberts of the University of Florida’s Indian River Research and Education Center in Fort Pierce, and is intended give participants a better understanding of how to manage money by preparing a personal spending plan and identifying ways to decrease spending and increase income. Participants will learn how to track daily spending habits; prepare a personal spending plan or budget to estimate monthly income and expenses; identify ways to decrease spending and increase income; and identify budgeting tools that will help them manage their money.
The FDIC created the Money Smart program to help individuals build their financial knowledge, develop financial confidence, and use banking services effectively.
