SEBASTIAN – More than 30 county water customers in the City of Sebastian will be without water on Jan. 12 while construction crews perform drainage work. Water will be shut off at 8 a.m. and is scheduled to remain off until about 4 p.m.
The affected area includes 30 residences on George Street and one residence each on Seaside and Jettie terraces. Upon restoration of water service, the Indian River County Utilities Department advises that all water used for the following be boiled (a rolling boil of one minute is sufficient):
Drinking
Cooking
Making ice
Brushing teeth
Hand washing dishes
Bottled water may be used as an alternative.
This boil water notice will remain in effect until a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink. The department is unable to provide an exact time of survey completion, though it should be no more than 72 hours.
