Benjamin M. Martin, 85, died Dec. 31, 2009, at Palm Garden of Vero Beach.
He was born in Chillicothe, Mo., and lived in Vero Beach since 1971, coming from Syracuse, Ind. He was in the plumbing and heating industry as a manufacturer’s representative.
He enlisted in the Army Air Forces, reaching the rank of 1st lieutenant as a bombardier during World War II. He attended the Ohio State University. He was a graduate of Braymer, Mo., High School.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ruth W. Martin of Vero Beach; daughter, Susan Craig of Newark, Del.; sons, Benjamin M. Martin Jr. and James W. Martin, both of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and daughter, Mary Beth Brown of Vero Beach; 10 grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; seven great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Indiana, 7330 Woodland Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46278-1736.
