Sebastian River Art Club plans busy start to new year

SEBASTIAN — The Sebastian River Art Club isn’t letting the holiday season slow it down as the group gears up to a busy start to 2010.

As part of the club’s annual Holiday donations, the group donated $400 to the Ecumenical Food Bank and made its an annual donation of $100 to the Sebastian River Area Historical Society. In January, the art club will have more than 30 of its members’ art hanging in the Indian River County Courthouse in Vero Beach for a 3-month-long art exhibit.

The Sebastian River Art Club will celebrate its exhibition on Thursday, Jan. 21, with a reception in the Courthouse lobby where residents can mix and mingle with the artists and discuss their works.

On Jan. 16, the club will also have its first of 2010 outdoor show and sale of framed fine art at Riverview Park in Sebastian. Many new members will be displaying their work for the first time.

The show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In the event of rain, the club will reschedule for Jan. 17, same time.

Portions of purchases during the art show help fund the Rosalie Taylor Hume Scholarship and other local charities.
