John D. Rabon, 87, died Dec. 12, 2009, at his home.
He was born in Salisbury, N.C., and lived in Canistota, S.D., and was a winter resident of Vero Beach since 1990. He worked as refrigeration journeyman for Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, before retiring from Miami International Airport after 20 years as an air conditioning mechanic.
He was a naval veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He served as chief naval recruiter at Omaha, Neb. for five years. He retired from the Navy after 23 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 162 of Canistota, Tangier Shriners, Omaha, and was a Master Mason of Naomi Lodge 87, Norfolk, Va.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Eileen Rabon; daughters, Pamela Joyce and Mary Sottilare, both of Vero Beach; son, John Rabon of Ash Flat, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Rabon.

Services will be private. Burial will be in Canistota.
