VERO BEACH — Vero Classical Ballet presents The Nutcracker at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Nov. 28, with performances at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Featuring local talent as well professional guest artists, and international choreography; the timeless ballet is perfect for all ages.

Join little Clara, her jealous brother, Fritz, and all the magical characters in this two act fairy tale ballet with music originally scored by Tchaikovsky. After defending Clara against the Mouse King and his advancing troops of marching & dancing mice, travel with the Prince to the Land of the Sugar Plum Fairy for sweets beyond your dreams from Mother Ginger and delight in the delicate Waltz of the Flowers too.

The Mission Statement of Vero Classical Ballet is to provide the highest level of Classical Ballet training, to promote the art form through exceptional public performances, and to place students into international level careers.

Reserved seating tickets are $20 for adults and $16 for children/seniors in the center Orchestra level, $15 or $12 for the side Orchestra, and $10 or $8 for the upper Mezzanine.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. VBHS orchestra places in top 3 in national competition

A local high school ensemble showcased their musicianship among nine other schools around the country in a national competition in New York City, and placed in the top three, school officials said. The Vero Beach High School Philharmonic Orchestra, composed of 38 members, placed second-runner up in "The Orchestra Cup," which was held March 9 under the 2019 National School Orchestra Championships. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
