Golfing for Boys & Girls

VERO BEACH —  Make a difference in the life of a child just by playing golf as part of the eighth annual Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River Golf Tourney, Monday, Nov. 16 at the Vero Beach Country Club. The event, chaired by John Spooner, features two tournaments, a morning Pro Am with teams consisting of four amateurs and one golf professional, and an afternoon game with teams consisting of four players.  To date, golf professionals from RedStick, Hawk’s Nest, Quail Valley, Indian River Club, Pointe West, John’s Island, Orchid Island, Riomar, The Moorings, Windsor and Bent Pine have signed up to participate in the Pro Am event.

Lunch, and a silent auction, will be provided for all players and an awards presentation and sponsor recognition will follow each tournament.  George E. Warren Corporation is event’s major sponsor; theme sponsors are Publix Super Markets Charities and Marquis Insurance..

The funds raised from the tournament help support important after-school Club programs in the areas of education, sports & fitness, health & life skills, the arts, character and leadership development, and community service. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County, a United Way and Children’s Services Advisory Committee agency, provides quality programs to children ages 6-18 at one location in Sebastian and two in Vero Beach.  Plans call for expansion into Fellsmere and building a new club in Vero Beach in 2010. The top priority of the Boys & Girls Clubs is to help children succeed in school and in life

There is still time to participate in either tournament, sponsor a tee sign or donate a silent auction item.
