JoAnne Berkow to lecture at the Vero Beach Museum of Art Nov. 5

VERO BEACH — Immediately following the Vero Beach Art Club general meeting on Thursday, Nov. 5 at the Vero Beach Museum of Art, artist and author JoAnne Berkow will give a lecture on How To Approach Galleries and Build a Portfolio.  The public is invited to attend this free event. A social time with refreshments begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by the meeting at 7:00 p.m. and the lecture at 7:20 p.m.

It will be a fun, interactive, and highly animated talk that should last approximately 45 minutes, with a question and answer period immediately following the lecture.  JB Berkow, as she is known professionally, is an unusual combination of artist, entrepreneur, and mentor.  She owns several businesses, RosettaStone Fine Art Gallery, Sozo Fine Art Reproductions, a fine art giclée printing company and a publishing company, JB Studios.  She also founded one of the country’s most famous cooperatives, “Touchstone Gallery” in Washington, D.C. and a membership gallery, “Frenchman’s Art Gallery and Studios” in Juno Beach, Florida.

As a lead into the discussion, JoAnne will introduce her new book, “What They Didn’t Teach You in Art School.”  Much of the lecture involves certain topics covered in the book such as the proper way of documenting your work, the importance of becoming digital, and the importance of building a body of work.  She will also go into great detail about what not to do when approaching a gallery.

To learn more about Ms. Berkow you can go to her website at www.jbberkow.com and learn of JoAnne’s exceptional career experiences that make her uniquely qualified to write such a comprehensive reference book for artists struggling to take their career to the next level.
