WABASSO — No injuries were reported after one boat swamped another, causing it to break apart and capsize in the Indian River Lagoon north of the County Road 510 bridge in Wabasso Wednesday afternoon.Matt Leonard, owner of Buoy Bait Shop in Sebastian, said his boat was swamped when a large boat, estimated at 60 feet long, passed his boat going full throttle.  One of the pontoons detached from Leonard’s boat after the vessel was lifted into the air on the wake of the larger boat.   Leonard’s boat proceeded to capsize as he and one passenger abandoned ship into the water where they were picked up and brought to shore by a passing boat.Authorities responded to the scene after a passerby called authorities to say that two boats were in pieces north of the bridge.

Law enforcemnet officers from Florida Fish and Wildlife secured the still floating pieces of Leonard’s boat to two lane markers before giving him a ride back to his shop.

Authorities are on the look out for the other boat involved in the incident.
