Youth Guidance seeks mentors for children

VERO BEACH — Kickoff the football season as you learn about becoming a mentor at the Youth Guidance Kickoff for Kids Mentor Mixer on Sunday, Sept. 13 and noon at the Club at Pointe West, 7500 14th Lane, Vero Beach. If you think you might like to spend just two hours a week mentoring a Youth Guidance child be sure to attend the Mentor Mixer sponsored by the Youth Guidance Mentoring & Activities Program of Indian River County. This Mentor Mixer is an ideal opportunity for individuals to learn how easy it is to become a mentor and make a positive impact in a child’s life. Join Youth Guidance for NFL football on big screen televisions and discover what becoming a mentor can do for you. This mixer is designed for persons who want to explore the possibility of mentoring a youth. There will be raffle prizes, tailgate munchies, a 50/50 raffle, games and adult beverages available for purchase.

The primary purpose of Youth Guidance is to match each of its 700 at-risk K-12 children with a volunteer mentor 17 years and older. Mentors spend just a few hours a week with their mentee. The agency is actively seeking volunteers to serve as mentors, tutors or periodic volunteers at a special activity or to provide regular help in the office.
