Ernest Alex Hamer, 78, of Sebastian, died Thursday, July 30, 2009, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
He was born Sept. 1, 1930, in Philadelphia, Pa., and was a resident of Sebastian since 1988, coming from Fort Lauderdale. Prior to retirement Mr. Hamer had worked for Sun Oil Company as a boiler Maker and the City of Plantation as a garage supervisor. He was a member of the NAUI Scuba Dive, the Warren Masonic Lodge # 310 F & A.M., MAHI Shrine, 32nd Degree Mason of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite in Allentown, Pa.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Betty; daughter, Jennie May Peifer, of St. Petersburg; son, Ernest Alex Hamer III, of Chester, Pa.; stepdaughters, Kristi Haywood, of Manchester, Mich., and Karol Evangelides, of Manchester, Mich.; and five grandchildren.
