Michael Vincent Chiarantona, 48, of Sebastian, died Wednesday, June 16, 2009, at the Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce due to an automobile accident. Mr. Chiarantona was born Feb. 17, 1961, in New York City and moved to Sebastian 12 years ago from Auburn, Maine. He was formerly a Corrections Officer in Auburn, Maine, for 10 years. He was a member of Saint Sebastian Catholic Church and attended Saint John of the Cross. He served in the United States Army.Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Karen; two sons, Vincent Chiarantona, of Orlando, and Michael Chiarantona, of Sebastian; daughter, Kelly (Blake) Bassett, of Winter Springs; mother, Josephine Chiarantona, of Vero Beach; two brothers, Vincent Chiarantona, of Woodstock, Ga., and Richard Chiarantona, of Sebastian; sister, Jeanne (Frank) Bonelli, of Kings Park, N.Y.; and mother-in-law, Vera Kelleher, of Floral Park, N.Y.A Funeral Mass will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at Saint John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach.
