Artists Guild Gallery presents ‘Art Goes Green!’ through 31

VERO BEACH — The Artists Guild Gallery proudly presents Art Goes Green! exciting, eclectic art made from recycled objects, on view from July 1 through July 31. Come see what members have created using paint, glue, sticks, feathers, fabric, string, hardware and a myriad of other materials. The very talented and creative artists have “Gone Green” and recycled everyday items into lovely, intriguing, and humorous works of art, which will be displayed on the Gallery’s center aisle panels. Newly installed traditional artworks will also be on view in a vast array of styles and mediums, including sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, glass and prints. The Gallery is located at 44 Royal Palm Point, Vero Beach, off Indian River Boulevard just south of the Barber Bridge. New summer hours as of June 1 are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

VERO BEACH — Beachgoers are hitting the shores this summer all while practicing social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic. The city's three guarded beaches had a slight dip in attendance numbers in July compared to last year, according to a Vero Beach Lifeguard Association report. Last month, 86,095 people flocked to Jaycee Park Beach, Humiston Park Beach and South Beach Park, lifeguards said. This number is less than the 86,686 beachgoers who hit the sand in July 2019. In July of 2018, the city set an attendance record when the beaches had 93,000 visitors, lifeguards said. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
