Alfred William LaPorte, 67, Vero Beach

 

Alfred William LaPorte, 67, of Vero Beach, died June 23, 2009, at Indian River Medical Center. He was born in Jamaica, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach, coming from New York, N.Y.

 

 He was a graduate of Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y. He was a director for New York Telephone, now Verizon, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Grand Harbor Golf and Beach Club, and the National Rhododendron and Azalea Society. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church.

 

 

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Colleen M. Mohr; and brother, Raymond D. LaPorte, of Mount Sinai, N.Y.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Helen Catholic School, 2050 Vero Beach Ave., Vero Beach, FL 32960.

 

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. June 25 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. June 26 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
