Clifford Lomax McCartey, 88

April 27, 1933 – January 06, 2022

Clifford Lomax McCartey, age 88, passed away January 6, 2022, at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital.

He was born in Red Level, Alabama on April 27, 1933.

Mr. McCartney served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He earned a Korean Service Medal with Two Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal Two Over / Seas Bars.

Clifford retired from Indian River School Board maintenance department and a Bank Courier for PNC Bank.

He was predeceased by Priscilla McCartey, Colleen McCartey Carter, and Diane McCartey.

Survivors include his sister, Brenda; daughters, Cynthia (Jim) Tuttle, Christina (George) Petticrew and Charlene Sleeper; grandsons, Eric Compton, Jeff Tuttle, and Bradley Petticrew; granddaughters, Danielle Henchcliffe, Kim Adkins, Ashley Johnson, Arienne Sleeper, and Ashley Petticrew; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Dylan, Liam, Jaxson, Waylon, David, Ava, Stanley, Cynthia, Mallorie, Brayden, Leylah, Kassandra, and Braley.

Nora Jean Parman Webster, 94, Vero Beach

October 4, 1927 – December 23, 2021

Nora Jean Parman Webster of Vero Beach passed away December 23rd 2021 after a brief illness, she was 94. Nora Jean was born in Springfield, Missouri. She graduated from Fairview High School, Dayton, Ohio in 1945 and attended Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Nora Jean retired in May 1985 as Head of the Records Management Division, HQ Naval Investigative Service in Washington, D.C. with 37 years of government service in Naval Intelligence. During the period 1952 – 1956 she served as Secretary to the U.S. Naval Attaché, U.S. Embassy, Oslo, Norway and to the Director of Material Division, 7th Air Division (SAC), United States Air Force, Rislip, United Kingdom. Upon her retirement from government service she was honored with a luncheon held at the officers club at Andrews Air Force Base (Joint Base Andrews), Maryland.

Nora Jean moved to Vero Beach in 1993 where she has been a member of the Moorings Yacht & Country Club and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach. She loved playing golf, bridge and walking the beach. She was an active and oldest member of the Moorings Sabal Circle Garden Club and served as past president. Nora Jean was very proud of achieving a “hole-in-one” twice at the Moorings Club Course.

She is survived by her niece, Ann Elizabeth Parman of Macon, Georgia, her nephew Robert Henry Parman of Orlando, Florida, step-son Richard Tad Webster and two step-grandchildren Ben Michael and McKenzie. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Milford Webster, and her brother Henry (Hank) O. Parman Jr. and her sister-in-law Hortense (Sue) D. Parman and her parents Elizabeth Boyd Parman and Henry Oland Parman.

A family memorial will be held at the First Presbyterian Church Memory Garden, Vero Beach, Florida later this month. Nora Jean’s laughter, spirit of adventure, generosity and friendship will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Jerry D. Harp, 39 

April 14, 1982 – January 6, 2022

Mr. Jerry D. Harp, 39, died January 6, 2022 at Cleveland Clinic – Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach after a sudden illness.

He was born April 14, 1982 in Vero Beach, Florida to Albert “Butch” Harp and Jerolyn Williams Bergen.

He attended Vero Beach High School and went on to work in the hospitality industry as a chef.

Jerry, self-described as “Legendary Jerry” loved to spend time outdoors and fishing, but his greatest joy was spending time with his son, Bradyn.

In addition to his son, survivors include his mother, Jerolyn Bergen and stepdad Charlie; father, Albert “Butch” Harp; brother, James Harp; aunt, Deirdre Williams; uncle, Justin Williams; grandmother, Carolyn Williams and many more family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gerald “Jerry” Williams.

Visitation will be 11:00-1:00 on Saturday January 15, 2022 at Strunk Funeral Homes & Crematory in Vero Beach, followed by Graveside Services at Winter Beach Cemetery beginning at 2:00.

Bianca Louise Probes Keresey died on January 8, 2022.She was born in Albany, NY, the daughter of the late Charles F. and Mildred Probes. Bianca was a professional caregiver, mother, and devoted wife. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Donnelly (Donn) Keresey. She is survived by her children Craig Roberts of Georgia, Kelley Keresey (Sam Garcia) of Rio Rancho, NM, son Donn Keresey of Los Angeles, CA, Grandchildren Meghan Keresey, Cameron Keresey and Great-Grandchildren Marlie Apperson (Josh Huntley), Caiden Keresey-Yates, Brennan and Emery Apperson, Weiland and Kiedis Keresey.

Susan “Sue” Kay Niles, 74, Vero Beach

January 8, 2022

NILES, Susan “Sue” Kay, 74, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2022, at Kindred Hospital in Melbourne, Florida. Born in St. Louis, Missouri to Charles Howard and Mary Cecelia Foster. She is survived by, and also loving mother to Brenda Niles and loyal companion Bentley the dog. She moved to Miami, Florida in 1951, and graduated from Coral Gables Senior High. In 1967 Sue worked as a certified dental assistant and radiologist for various Miami dental practices. In 1976, Sue attended the certified Dental assisting Program at the University of North Carolina. Sue was the President of the local Miami Dade Dental Assisting Society and was also the Clinical and Business Manager of the Craniomandibular and Temporomandibular Joint treatment Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. In 1978, Sue became the Dental Clinic Coordinator for a 20-chair clinic at the L.D. Pankey Institute for advanced dental education. She presented workshops in many cities of the U.S. and abroad. In 1992, Sue taught Health Science at the Miami Dade Public Schools, and helped teach medical skills, physics, and life science. She served as the HIV/AIDS resource teacher, and crisis intervention counselor on special assignment for Naranja Elementary, and Homestead Middle School. These were special assignments in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew. She counseled students with PTSD, suicide ideation, abuse, and stress management. Sue worked with FEMA and the University of Miami Psychiatric Department. Sue also received her Bachelor of Science in Health Occupations Education Cum Laude at FIU in Miami. In 1994, she worked as an educator in the Miami Dade Public School System as an instructor in an approved American Dental Association Vocational Program for Dental Assisting at Robert Morgan Educational Center. Sue’s interests are reading, psychology, education, alternative medicine, body building, cooking, art museums, plays, and concerts. . Her other interest was Real Estate which she received her Real Estate License and worked for the Coral Gables branch at EWM in 2003. She and her brother Bill who recently passed in 2019, loved owning a 12-unit building called Foster Apartments across from the U of M in Coral Gables that her family helped build years ago but then sold, and Sue moved to retire to Vero Beach in 2012. Sue loved living in Vero Beach.
