Ribbon cutting ceremony for new north county offices

SEBASTIAN — More than 50 people, including government officials, gathered Wednesday morning to celebrate the grand opening of the new county offices, which will provide convenient services to north county residents.

“This gives us the flexibility to serve north county better. We’re excited,” Indian River County Administrator Jason Brown said. “North county has been growing.”

The ribbon cutting ceremony was held about 9 a.m. Wednesday at the new office building, located at 1921 U.S. 1 in the Sebastian Corners shopping center, just south of Walmart. The renovated facility has services from the tax collector’s office, property appraiser’s office, clerk of the court, utilities, veterans services and more.

“It enhances our ability to provide effective services and is a one-stop shop,” Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller Jeffrey Smith said. “I’m thrilled at what the county has done. It’s a first class facility.”

The new building, which has about 18,000 square feet total, opened July 1, said Alexis Peralta, ceremony organizer and storm water educator for the county. The county is using 8,400 square feet of the facility, but have the option to expand, Brown said.

The previous Sebastian office that housed county services, located at 11610 U.S. 1, permanently closed June 21. Other county office locations include the following:
