Boater rescues 2 on Jet Ski adrift at Sebastian Inlet

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A nearby boater helped rescue two people aboard a Jet Ski that malfunctioned Sunday and went adrift in the Sebastian Inlet toward the sea, officials said.

Witnesses told authorities the yellow and black Jet Ski was not working and appeared to be floating out to sea about 5 p.m. Sunday at the Sebastian Inlet, a sheriff’s report shows. Footage from a sheriff’s helicopter released Sunday shows a person on the Jet Ski and another halfway submerged in the water, holding onto the vessel.

Good Samaritan rescues stranded jet-ski

The Sheriff's Office recieved a report of a jetski that was carrying two people was adrift and headed out to sea in the Sebastian Inlet. A nearby boater responded and assisted the jetskier back to shore.

The unidentified boater rescued the pair a short time later. The Jet Ski was towed back to shore, officials said.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was also at the scene.

No further information was immediately available.
