SEBASTIAN — A 58-year-old woman was arrested after she punched her husband several times and pointed a firearm at him inside their home, according to an Indian River County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

Karen Lynn Dodson, of Sebastian, was charged with aggravated assault and battery on a person over 65. She was released Sunday from the Indian River County Jail on $1,500 bail, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Sebastian police responded shortly before noon July 8 to a disturbance at a home in the 100 block of Midway Court, police said. They spoke with the husband, who told them he and his wife earlier were talking in the living room about selling their home.

The two began to argue when the wife, later identified as Dodson, punched and scratched her husband, the report states. The husband said when Dodson slapped him several times, he pushed her off of him and went to the kitchen.

Dodson then left the room and returned with a firearm, the report states.  She pointed the firearm at the husband’s face and said she was “going to kill him and then herself.”

The husband said he was able to convince Dodson to put down the firearm, which he described as a semi-automatic pistol.

Dodson then left the home in a Nissan Pathfinder, the report states. Vero Beach police found Dodson and the car in the 2000 block of Avilla Avenue in Vero Beach.

Police took Dodson to the Indian River County Jail for booking.
