IRMC education series talks cancer prevention and treatment

VERO BEACH — Colon cancer is the second leading cause of deaths from cancer in the United States, accounting for about 20 percent of all cancer deaths.

Colon cancer is also one of the most curable types of cancer if it is diagnosed early.

Prevention and treatment of colorectal cancer is the topic of IRMC’s Community Cancer Education Series talk on Thursday, March 21, from 4-5:30 p.m.

The lecture, titled Protect Your Bottom Line: Prevention and Treatment of Colorectal Cancer, features internist Dr. Melissa Dean; gastroenterologist Dr. Charles Eberhart; and general surgeon Dr. Derek Paul.

Free colorectal screening kits will be provided, compliments of IRMC’s Cancer Center.
