Man suspected of sexual assault outside library

VERO BEACH — A 45-year-old man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman outside a library, was arrested early Friday, authorities said. Vero Beach police arrested Carlos Tito Caban, of the 1500 block of 14th Avenue, Vero Beach, on a charge of sexual battery. Caban was being held Friday at the Indian River County Jail without bond until his first court appearance, scheduled for Saturday, officers said. Police responded to reports of a sexual assault about 7 a.m. Friday just outside of the Indian River County Main Library, 1600 21st Street. Impact 100 grants $433k to local nonprofits

The Ocean Research & Conservation Association (ORCA), the Indian River Charter High School, the Florida Institute of Technology Scott Center for Autism Treatment, and the Shining Light Garden Foundation are all $100,000 richer, thanks to the 433 philanthropic members of Indian River County Impact 100. Fellsmere begins restorations at Marian Fell Library

FELLSMERE - The City of Fellsmere has announced the start of the Marian Fell Library Restoration Project. This project to restore one of the City’s most valuable historic assets is made possible by a $50,000 matching grant through the Florida Department of State Division of Historic Resources. The City is providing $25,000 towards the restoration matched by $25,000 through the small category grants program. The project is being overseen by Paul C. Palmer, AIA LEED AP with Renker Eich Parks Architects. Renker et al is the same firm that conducted the assessment of the Marian Fell Library when it was conveyed to the City from the Indian River County Historical Society.
