Eddie King Jr., 60, Vero Beach

Eddie King Jr., 60, died May 27, 2010, in Vero Beach.

He was born in Forsyth, Ga., and lived in Vero Beach.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara King; daughters, Chesene Eggleston and Lehoter Staime, both of Vero Beach; brothers, Bobby King Sr., Johnny King and Terry King, all of Vero Beach, Jimmy King Sr. of St. Petersburg and Ellis King Sr. of Kingston, N.C.; and sisters, Delois Best of Kingston, N.C., and Barbara Jean Knighton of Fort Pierce.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. June 4 at Hortense and Mills Memorial Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. June 5, at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Gifford Cemetery.

2 wounded in late Monday shooting; deputies investigating

GIFFORD — Two people suffered non-life threatening injuries following a double shooting late Monday, Indian River County sheriff's deputies reported. It was the second reported shooting to take place in Indian River County over the Labor Day weekend. Both incidents are not connected, sheriff's spokesperson Sgt. Kevin Jaworski said. Details on the motive in Monday's shooting were not immediately available. Man killed in overnight shooting in Gifford

GIFFORD — A man in his early 20s was killed after being struck by gunfire overnight, authorities said. Indian River County sheriff's officials said there was no known danger to the public but are investigating the case as a homicide. "Currently, detectives are working all leads," sheriff's officials said in a statement. "There is no suspect information that can be presently shared."
