UPDATE: Power restored for 3,200 Sebastian customers

SEBASTIAN — Power has been fully restored to 3,200 Florida Power and Light customers in Sebastian, after high winds and bamboo interfered with electrical lines.

The affected area consisted of County Road 512, Fleming Street and South Barber Street.

Sarah Marmion, a spokeswoman for FP&L, said that power was restored by 12:08 p.m., after having been knocked out around 11:10 a.m. She said 70 percent of the customers had their power restored by 11:50 a.m. “We apologize for the inconvenience,” Marmion said.

She added that high winds and bamboo limbs were the cause of the outage.
