William Randal McNeal Sr., 67, Vero Beach

William Randal McNeal Sr., 67, of Vero Beach, died June 29, 2009, at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach. He was born in Vero Beach and was lifelong resident. He worked at the Vero Beach City Power Plant, retiring as shift supervisor after 30 years. Prior to that he spent two years as an Indian River County sheriff’s deputy. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Eva; sons, Randy McNeal Jr., Patrick McNeal and Guy McNeal, all of Vero Beach; and two grandchildren.A private service will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Lowther Cremation Service in Vero Beach. A guest book may be signed at lowthercremationservice.com.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. "It's a great thing," Vero Beach Lifeguard Association officials said in a statement. "We hope people are paying attention to lifeguards and condition signs before they go into the water." ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations. Howle, Zudans win in Vero; Kinchen, McPartlan, Iovino in Sebastian

All results are in for the Vero Beach and Sebastian municipal elections. Voters have returned Harry Howle to the Vero Beach Council and Bob McPartlan and Linda Kinchen to the Sebastian Council. Val Zudans will join Howle on the Vero Council, while Albert Iovino will round out the last of three seats up for grabs on the Sebastian Council.
