SUMMARY:GYAC Red Carpet Tour
DESCRIPTION:GYAC will be hosting a ‘Red Carpet Tour’ on Thursday\, April 18 at 4:00 p.m. Tours are the perfect opportunity for new and seasoned residents to discover what makes GYAC the ‘Miracle on 43rd Avenue”. \nApproximately 250 students in grades K – 12\, from across Indian River County\, are enrolled in GYAC’s educational afterschool program. Four days a week\, students receive homework assistance and\, if needed\, one-on-one tutoring. Weekly enrichment activities include lessons in the science explorers club\, youth employability skills\, gardening\, tennis\, cosmetology and much more. In addition\, students participate in several off-site cultural and social outings throughout the year. \nIn June\, GYAC’s enrollment balloons to nearly 300 students who attend the Center’s summer camp\, where educational instruction continues. Afternoons are filled with plenty of time for recreation\, including weekly trips to the pool\, bowling alley and skating rink. \nThat’s not all. As part of the Beyond Special K (BSK) program\, GYAC also hosts weekly exercise classes: low impact aerobics and qigong for adults and senior citizens. Plus\, a mobile food pantry and food delivery for nearby homebound seniors is offered twice a month. \nLearn more about GYAC during one of our famous ‘red carpet tours\,’ led by Freddie Woolfork\, GYAC’s Director of Public Relations and Facilities Operations. DESCRIPTION:The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach (UUFVB) is delighted to announce a series of engaging and educational activities for elementary-aged children throughout April\, focusing on the theme of interdependence. Join us for Sunday adventures starting at 10 AM at 1590 27th Ave\, Vero Beach. Come and explore the wonders of interdependence with us in sessions that promise to be both educational and enjoyable. DESCRIPTION:Save the date – Coffee\, Chat & Change: Navigating Grief & Senior Transitions – Thurs 4/25 from 10am-noon at Discovery Village Vero Beach. Michelle C Butler & Libby Wiseman of Senior Transition Navigator are the speakers. \nGrief has touched us all and managing it isn’t easy. Michelle is a #griefcoach and author – “Please Don’t Say that Sh*t” and “Befriending my Grief Monster”. She’s also an artist & channeled her sadness & love for her daughter into every piece she creates. She will share key pieces of info you can use to deal with your grief. \nLibby is a certified #seniortransition navigator & #probatespecialist and realtor. As a senior\, she understands how much work is involved in downsizing\, packing\, moving and deciding on the best living options. It needn’t be hard\, she makes it easy. Her clients even say that they’re excited and looking forward to what their golden years will bring. \nWho is this event for? Anyone dealing with the loss of a loved one or friend. Adult children and seniors who are thinking about moving and making changes to reflect their needs as a senior. \nResidents of Discovery Village as well as non-residents are welcome to attend this free event. DESCRIPTION:The annual Vero Beach Orchid Society show and sale is happening Saturday\, April 27th from 10am-5pm and Sunday\, April 28th from 10am-4pm. You are invited to come see all the beautiful orchids and award-winning displays. Many vendors will be present and selling a wide variety of orchids and orchid care supplies. There will be plenty of fun raffles for you to choose from. The show and sale will be held in the beautiful setting at Riverside Park Under the Oaks. This year’s theme is ‘There’s No Business Like Orchid Show Business’.
