SUMMARY:IRSC Expanding Horizons Summer Youth Program: Monday through Thursday\, June 7–July 29 (ages 14-16)
DESCRIPTION:This program is open to students who are ages 14 to 16 as of June 1\, 2021\, who reside in and attend school in Okeechobee County. Parent or guardian must be a legal Florida resident. Parents and students must attend the summer program orientation. \nStudents will receive training and information on leadership and citizenship skills; receive relevant information on gangs\, drugs and financial literacy; receive remediation in basic skills; receive remediation instruction in reading\, writing and math; receive instruction on occupational skills and career exploration; and will be introduced to parenting skills. All academic activities will be competency-based with achievement assessed on a daily basis. A pre- and post-test will be administered for each student. Students will investigate a selection of career training programs through exploration activities. Join the City of Vero Beach Recreation Department on August 5\, 6 and 7 at Saint Edward’s School as we feature the amazing kids in our community! Now in its 47th year\, the Aerial Antics Youth Circus is a longstanding Vero Beach tradition. The Aerial Antics Youth Circus is a unique gymnastics\, dance and circus aerial production that features over 250 students (ages 3 – 25) enrolled in our gymnastics and performing arts classes and the Aerial Antics summer camp all held at Leisure Square. \nThe year-round program (including 9 weeks of summer camp)\, offers a safe and positive environment for ALL children to have fun\, stay physically active and receive an invaluable arts education. Not only do our students receive physical and educational benefits\, they are mentored and cared for by our outstanding staff. \nParticipants in the Aerial Antics Youth Circus program are awarded the opportunity to showcase their talents in an end of summer production\, the Aerial Antics Youth Circus\, with a different theme each year. The theme this year is “Extra\, Extra\, Read All About It!” and the routines are choreographed to reflect different sections of a traditional newspaper. Music selections will highlight sports\, entertainment\, travel\, hometown heroes\, classifieds and headline stories. Students will have their “moment in the spotlight” with family\, friends and the community as spectators. \nSo\, mark your calendars for August 5\, 6 and 7\, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at Saint Edward’s School.
