DESCRIPTION:The Foosaner Art Museum will be filled with exciting\, contemporary and creative artwork including painting\, sculpture\, photography\, mixed media and more by members of the Florida Artists Group\, a statewide organization of fine artists. \nThe Florida Artists Group (FLAG) was incorporated as a non-profit organization of professional artists in 1949. Made up of artists whose work has attained national or state-wide recognition\, the purpose of the group is to stimulate attainment of the highest standards of creative art within the State of Florida. \nThe exhibit will be held at the Foosaner Art Museum located at 1464 Highland Avenue in the Eau Gallie Art District in Melbourne\, Florida from March 27 through April 24\, 2020. \nAdmission is free. Museum hours are Wednesday – Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm and the First Friday of each month from First Fridays 1 am – 7:30 pm.

Join us to learn more about FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute’s Harmful Algal Bloom Lab and Taskforce\, and ongoing research on algal blooms from scientist and principal investigator Dr. Malcolm McFarland. \nDr. McFarland’s research is focused on understanding patterns of photoplankton distribution\, abundance\, and species composition. His work combines laboratory experiments\, microscope-based analysis of water samples\, and the development of new techniques to observe photoplankton population dynamics with high spatial and temporal resolution. \nHe is particularly interested in harmful algal blooms due to their impacts on human and animal health\, and their apparent global increase associated with climate change. His research is important to understanding the role of photoplankton in aquatic ecosystems at local and global scales. \nAll sessions will be held in the 2nd floor classroom at BG’s Surfside Grill & Adventures at Sebastian Inlet State Park (North entrance). Sessions are free with regular park admission fees.

DESCRIPTION:The Youth Guidance 43rd Annual Tropical Night Luau is scheduled for Saturday\, June 20\, 2020 from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Each year our event becomes bigger and better\, with more fun and festivities. The Luau will be held at the Clubhouse at Oak Harbor\, in Vero Beach. \nTo get in the spirit of the Luau\, guests will be adorned with Hawaiian leis as they arrive\, and many will be dressed in Tropical attire. The Luau includes dining\, dancing to the Gypsy Lane Band and a fabulous evening with friends. \nThere will also be an exciting silent and live auction\, along with an elegant tropical buffet. \nAll proceeds support Youth Guidance Mentoring Academy.
