She Talks to Fish Book Signing & Life Painting

November 15, 2024 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Pelican Island Audubon Society invites the public to meet avid Boone, N.C. fly fisherman Brian Hester and co-author Barbara Beam on November 15 as they release their book, She Talks to Fish! The event is a fundraiser for the Society’s Audubon Advocates, an after-school science and outdoor adventure program for under-represented students attending Title 1 schools in Indian River County. The book tells the coming-of-age story of a young woman whose obsession with fly fishing in the North Carolina mountains helped her confront bigotry, stereotypes, and even death with remarkable perseverance. Hester, a professional artist and visual arts teacher, will delight attendees by creating a live painting that will be auctioned at a later date. Tickets for the fundraiser may be purchased at: www.PelicanIslandAudubon.org. Contact Donna Halleran, Executive Director, at (772) 567-3520 or [email protected].
