Next Generation Veterans – Ruck March

The NextGen Veterans organization is hosting a “Ruck March” on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018. The six (6) mile ruck (walk with a ruck/backpack) will begin and end at Riverside Park, near the entrance to Veterans Memorial Island Sanctuary.
Participants will pay a $20 registration fee and are asked to donate between 15-30 pounds of non-perishable food items, which they will carry in a ruck/backpack during the “ruck march.”
For those who would like to participate but are unable to carry 15-20 pounds, please feel free to drop off your non-perishables at registration prior to the start time.
Active Duty Military and ROTC – with the proper identification, we will waive your $20 registration fee.
Sponsorships: If you would like to be a sponsor, we are looking for donations to cover the registration fees for veterans and volunteers.
All event proceeds will go directly to:
1. The Upward American Veterans (UAV) program helps veterans who are struggling financially by helping them in time of need.
2. The Iraq/Afghanistan, “Words From War” monument is a memorial for those who served in the global war on terror, who paid the ultimate price and to honor those who have served. It is a way to honor them for generations to come.
3. All food proceeds will go to The Food Pantry of Indian River County.
About Next Generation Veterans: NextGen is a group for local veterans of Iraq, Afghanistan and other recent conflicts and the people who support them. We meet at Vero Beach Veterans the 2nd Monday of the Month at 6:00 pm. If you know any veterans who served during Desert Storm, Desert Shield, Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, New Dawn or any operation after 1990, please invite them to our group.
