IRSC Expanding Horizons Summer Youth Program: Monday through Thursday, June 7–July 29 (ages 14-16)

FreeThis program is open to students who are ages 14 to 16 as of June 1, 2021, who reside in and attend school in Okeechobee County. Parent or guardian must be a legal Florida resident. Parents and students must attend the summer program orientation.
Students will receive training and information on leadership and citizenship skills; receive relevant information on gangs, drugs and financial literacy; receive remediation in basic skills; receive remediation instruction in reading, writing and math; receive instruction on occupational skills and career exploration; and will be introduced to parenting skills. All academic activities will be competency-based with achievement assessed on a daily basis. A pre- and post-test will be administered for each student. Students will investigate a selection of career training programs through exploration activities. Students will be recognized for their accomplishments during their summer experience through an awards ceremony at the close of the summer program.
Students participating in this program have the opportunity to earn a weekly stipend.

Fee: This camp is in partnership with the Children’s Services Council of Okeechobee County. There is no charge to students.
