American Guild of Organists presents: Stephen Hamilton workshop and concert

The Treasure Coast Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will sponsor a concert featuring world-renowned Organist Dr. Stephen Hamilton, Minister of Music (Emeritus) at Church of the Holy Trinity in New York City. The concert will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2020, at 4:00pm at Community Church of Vero Beach, 1901 23rd Street in Vero Beach. Admission is free to the community; a free-will offering will be accepted to benefit a scholarship fund for young organists.
In demand as a clinician for master classes and workshops, Stephen Hamilton frequently lectures on topics related to church music as well as organ pedagogy, performance, and interpretation. A Church Music Workshop led by Dr. Hamilton will be held at Community Church of Vero Beach on Saturday, March 7, 2020, from 9:30am to 1:00pm. Registration is $10.00 and includes lunch. Local members of the American Guild of Organists and anyone interested in church music is invited to attend.
Sunday’s concert will feature a mainstay of Hamilton’s repertoire: his sought-after and movingly vivid interpretation of Marcel Dupré’s 1932 fourteen-movement work, Le Chemin de la Croix (The Stations of the Cross). The performance will also include narration of the poem, Le Chemin de la Croix, written by Paul Claudel in 1911. Paired with Community Church’s spectacular $13M Lively-Fulcher pipe organ, this concert is sure to be exquisite.
