January 6 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am

Free

AI — Artificial Intelligence — is it the doorway to unparalleled possibility or the portal to a future of unimaginable peril?

Chris Westpfahl, owner of Beachside Technology in Vero Beach, will discuss The Coming Wave: Technology, Power, and the Twenty-first Century’s Greatest Dilemma, by Mustafa Suleyman, at a Book Review Breakfast on Monday, Jan. 6, at 9:30am, in the Richardson Center of the Vero Beach Campus of Indian River State College, 6155 College Lane. Sponsored by the American Association of University Women (AAUW), Vero Beach branch, the breakfast is free and open to the public.

Lauded by Bill Gates as one of the best books of 2023, The Coming Wave considers the opportunities, challenges and dangers presented by AI. Suleyman co-founded DeepMind and was vice president of AI product management for Google. Westpfahl is an expert in computers and website security who has been focusing on AI issues for many years.

Westpfahl will do an interactive Zoom presentation and discussion designed for a non-technical audience.

AI is already influencing our lives in ways that we may not even perceive, and that influence will certainly grow over time. Take this chance to learn more about AI, how it may affect your life and how you can learn to deal with it.

The AAUW-Vero Beach is a 501(c)3 charitable organization. The breakfast is free and open to the public.
