Eight health systems have submitted proposals to take over Indian River Medical Center, including the parent companies of Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce, Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, and Sebastian River Medical Center.
HCA Healthcare, owner of Lawnwood, submitted the highest bid at $415 million, according to a report released Thursday by the Indian River County Hospital District.
Health First, which operates Holmes and three other hospitals in Brevard County, submitted the second highest at $377 million, according to the consultant’s report.
Steward Health Care System, owner of Sebastian River, submitted the third-highest bid at $375 million.
Others bidding were RCCH HealthCare Partners, which offered $280 million; Universal Health Services, $215 million; Adventist Sunbelt, which offered $302 million to $352 million; Orlando Health, which offered $140 million to $260 million; and Cleveland Clinic, $102 million.
The IRMC and boards of the Hospital District were scheduled to meet Friday at 1 pm to hear the consultant’s report on the proposals. The boards were then expected to meet separately to each pick up to three finalists.
