INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A former aide to Donald Trump connected to a Special Counsel investigation into Russian intelligence hacking private emails during the 2016 Presidential Election, will speak Thursday in Vero Beach, officials said.
Roger Stone will speak about 6:45 p.m. Thursday at the monthly meeting for the Republican Club of Indian River County, club President Frank Sosta said. The meeting will take place at the Grand Harbor Country Club, 4985 Club Terrace, Vero Beach.
Sosta could not comment on what Stone will speak about at the monthly meeting. Stone, a seasoned Republican strategist and New York Times best-selling author, has worked on campaigns of notable Republican politicians including Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Jack Kemp, Bob Dole and Donald Trump.
In recent years, the political consultant has come under fire for his possible role in an email hacking scheme during the 2016 Presidential Election.
Stone was accused of having knowledge of Russian intelligence hacking private emails from the chairman of the Hillary Clinton campaign, according to reports. Authorities said Stone communicated with Russian hackers during the election period.
Stone denied knowing about the email hack or any connection to Russian intelligence, reports show. Stone did admit he tried to contact WikiLeaks to get information on Hillary Clinton.
The investigation into the hacking accusations remains ongoing.
