INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A trailer with pool cleaning supplies overturned at 57th Street and U.S. 1, leaving a chemical spill on the roadway, an Indian River County Sheriff’s Office official said.
A truck was carrying the trailer when the one-vehicle crash happened shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday. Fire Rescue crews are on scene cleaning up the chemical spill on the road, said sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Thom Raulen.
Two good samaritans who stopped to help the truck driver were affected by the pool chemicals. The two people and the truck driver all were taken to the Indian River Medical Center.
Their conditions were not immediately available, Raulen said.
The crash temporarily closed all lanes on U.S. 1 for nearly two hours. All lanes have reopened, but traffic still remains congested.
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the crash.
No further information was available.
