Fellsmere woman, 54, brandishes firearm to quiet neighbors

FELLSMERE – A Fellsmere woman was arrested after authorities say she waved a gun and threatened her neighbors when they refused to quiet themselves and stop shining a light in her eyes.

The woman’s neighbor flagged down Fellsmere Police and told an officer that 54-year-old Sandra Dupont was threatening to shoot as she pointed her gun in the air.

Dupont confirmed her neighbor’s statement to police, according to authorities.

The affidavit stated that Dupont was smoking on her front porch when her neighbors starting talking loudly and shining a flashlight in her eyes.

According to Dupont, she asked them to be quiet and to stop shining the light in her eyes.

When they did not stop, according to authorities, Dupont went back inside her house and grabbed her firearm and went outside onto her porch and told her neighbors, “I’ll shoot your lights out,” with the gun in her hand.

Dupont told police she did wave the gun around but she did not point it directly at a person.

She was placed under arrest and was transported to the Indian River County Jail without issue. Dupont faces charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and improper exhibition of a firearm.
