Lelia Elizabeth ‘Bettie’ Fraser Stern, 87, of Vero Beach, passed away at her home on Aug. 16, 2016.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Richard Maier Stern and children, Daniel Richard Stern, Thomas Fraser Stern and Laura Lelia Stern along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father William Baxter Fraser and her mother Lelia Mary Smith Fraser Wadsworth.
Stern was born on June 20, 1929, in New Orleans, La. During her life, she was a devoted wife and loving mother. She was a professional Registered Nurse and served briefly as President of the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN). She retired from The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas where she served as an operating room nurse.
Strunk Funeral Home is handling the cremation. There will be no formal memorial service. A private service will be held for immediate family.
